Bruce McNaughton Retires as SF Opera Super Star

Bruce McNaughton has decided to leave the San Francisco Opera stage in triumph as he reprises his role as First Agent in Puccini's Tosca and Scarpia's Agents. Bruce will be moving to Dayton, Ohio soon after Tosca closes where it is rumored that he will be appearing in his debut performance with Dayton Opera.

Bruce began his Super career in February 1997 in Aida at the Civic Auditorium. In September of that year he appeared in his first Tosca as the Opera House reopened. Since then Bruce has appeared in Carmen (twice), Turandot (twice), Manon, Don Carlo, Don Carlos, Götterdammerung, Louise, Lucia di Lammermoor, Idomeneo, Nabucco, La Boheme, Luisa Miller, Der Rosenkavalier, Simon Boccanegra, Arshak, Samson and Dalila, Kat'a Kabanova, Il Trovatore, and Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.

As we wish Bruce all the best in Ohio, we take pleasure in presenting a retrospective look at some of his most memorable super rôles.
